• Saemaul Undong is a village development program that helps individuals, villages and a country to grow further; it first started as a live well movement in Korea in 1970.
• Saemaul Undong is a movement that spreads across all areas of national development based on confidence "We can do it. We can make it." with the Saemaul spirits of diligence, self-help, cooperation.
• Korea laid the foundation for successful national development via Saemaul Undong, and now Saemaul Undong is a movement for everyone around the world as it is registered in UNESCO's Memory of the World.

• Korea's Saemaul Undong is recognized as the most suitable means to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), humanity's shared goals adopted by leaders around the world.
• More specifically, Saemaul Undong is highly valued as a useful tool to tackle food shortages and eradicate poverty in rural areas in developing countries.
• Global Saemaul Undong is a strategy of Korea's official development assistance (ODA), which aims for shared prosperity and continued development of the global community by sharing Korea's successful development experience with the international community.
